drum roll please....

After much anticipation, we found out today what we're having!

Throughout this whole pregnancy, any of those wives' tales that I've done have pointed to a girl. The pendant swung around in a circle, rather than going back and forth. Signs point to girl. The Chinese Gender predictor worked its ancient magic. Signs point to girl. Apparently I have a more spread out baby bump, instead of a compact little bump. Signs point to girl. I know that's nothing to base my thoughts on, but "girl" has been in my mind. Our list of names for a baby girl by far surpasses the length of our list of boy names.

On the other hand, I've had two dreams of the baby, and in both of them it's been a boy. My dreams these days are so vivid, and I clearly remember holding a baby boy and talking to him, telling him I hope that's what he really looks like. In my dream I thought I was getting a secret sneak peak of the baby and I hid him from people as they approached me. Dan was rooting for a boy to be "an heir to the Kastner throne". (haha...Throne of what?) As a kid I always wanted an older brother, in addition to my loving sister, and as I've thought about having kids of my own I've wanted a boy first.

This morning as I was chugging down water to have a full bladder, to ensure a successful ultrasound, Dan and I were talking about our last minute guesses of baby gender. We both agreed that we'd be shocked if it was a boy, for whatever reason. I was so anxious to find out as she pointed out cute things like the thighs and arms, and took pictures of the feet. Finally, she said she was pretty certain as she pointed out the little parts of our BABY BOY! Dan and I looked at each other and just started laughing. Surprise! We're so excited! And what was a bit more of a shocker is that she said the baby is measuring in at about 20 weeks 1 day, rather than the 19 weeks we initially thought. It's not her decision to officially bump up the due date, but she'd talk to our doctor and they'd decide. If this is accurate, that would move the due date from Aug. 2 back to July 23. Dan is crossing his fingers this is the case because his birthday is July 22, and the majority of the people in his family have July birthdays. We'll see...

YAY! So excited!!!!!!!!!!!

yes!!! now you can say you're having a bouncing baby boy. i don't think they have that kind of alliteration for girls.

when you mentioned having dreams about a boy, I figured that was what you were having. I also had dreams about having a boy before we knew. they say moms always have a sixth sense...
congrats, kastners!
