pacing and keeping busy

Talk about a procrastinator. Last Wednesday, at 39 weeks and 3 days, my friend Graham took some pictures of me, my belly and Dan in order to capture this moment. I really didn't document the whole pregnancy well, in photos or blog format. Ah well, I think Graham did a great job, even though I seem to always be making crazy weird faces. Here are a few of our faves.









I really didn't prep myself for the end of the line here in pregnancyland. This waiting is driving me nuts. For the past nine months I've been thinking AUGUST 2, and while I knew that the odds of having Jack exactly on the due date were slim, I always thought I'd have him earlier than later. I mean Dan and I are always early for everything, so we thought the little man would follow suit from the get go. We've tried telling Jack about toys and food, about Shark Week, about friends of ours he can be birthday buddies with (for instance, today is Barack Obama's birthday, as well as my good friend Cara)...still nothing. Hope this little guy isn't quite as stubborn as his momma!

My mom and sis have been here since Thursday, and it's like we're watching water boil, or anything equally boring. I feel something, then it turns into nothing. This has been the routine for a week. We even had a false alarm the day they were traveling across the country to get here. I thought my water was leaking. Turns out it wasn't, although they could see that I was have contractions...they just weren't strong.

So we had our doctor appointment today, and while my doctor is confident and optimistic that I'll be going into labor at any moment, we set up an induction for Sunday Aug 9. I really don't think we'll make it that far...who knows, we'll see...
